Website Redesign & Accessibility Optimization

The Weckerly’s website needed a full refresh to align with the new brand identity and improve usability. The previous layout and structure made it difficult for users to navigate efficiently, and accessibility issues such as low contrast, missing alt text, and inconsistent SEO tagging limited both user experience and search performance. The goal was to create a visually cohesive, accessible, and search-optimized website that clearly reflected the updated brand.

Process

1. Site Audit and Strategy

  • Conducted a full content audit to identify structural and accessibility issues.

  • Evaluated SEO performance, navigation flow, and readability.

  • Reviewed color contrast, image use, and text hierarchy for compliance and clarity.

2. Redesign and Brand Alignment

  • Applied new brand colors, typography, and logo across all pages to ensure consistency.

  • Simplified navigation and improved hierarchy for easier access to menus, catering, and location information.

  • Redesigned the layout of key pages to improve flow, visual balance, and scanability.

  • Created clear, high-contrast buttons and headers that improved both aesthetics and legibility.

3. Accessibility and SEO Optimization

  • Added descriptive and consistent alt text across all images to support screen readers and improve search ranking.

  • Optimized all images for faster page loading without reducing quality.

  • Improved color contrast to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards using approved shades from the updated palette.

  • Reorganized headings and metadata for stronger SEO structure and better content discovery.

  • Integrated a custom accessibility button using JavaScript and CSS in Squarespace to allow users to toggle contrast and adjust text size for improved readability.
